About Kate Robertson
Vocals and lots of percussion instruments. I own various shakers, a great tambourine and I love playing my Cabasa. I play a guitar and piano, but not currently with this band.
- Joined the Band
I was thrilled to join this band near to its conception. To sing with such incredibly talented players is a real joy.
- Formal Musical Education
I have received professional voice training at Salford University. Achieved Grade 2 piano. Have sung for years on the road singing lead vocal with “Fait awaits”. Worked with “Mick Giliker’s lost weekend” band and have sung all over the country and abroad with Nearly dan, a Steely dan tribute band for over 20 years and have played at Glastonbury in 2000 opening the tent that Robert Plant was head lining, and have also played at The Royal Festival Hall London, The Assembly Rooms Derby and The Echo Arena Liverpool. I read two music theory books shortly after joining Nearly dan that plays such complex music! Lol!
I grew up with Jazz funk and loved Weather Report and Spirogyra. I also like Free and Cream. I appreciate Amy Winehouse for her voice and her style. Ella Fitzgerald and Eva Cassidy remain my all time favourite singers, but I can’t leave out Bonnie Raitt, whom I love. I also love her slide guitar playing and her inimitable blues feel.
- Favourite Chris Bevington Org. Songs
I don’t need no Doctor and Better start cooking.
- Favourite or Interesting Chris Bevington Org. experiences
Playing at Colne Blues festival live on BBC radio, and singing Purple Rain with my bvox colleague Sarah Miller is always a joy.
“The Chris Bevington Organisation” is even greater than the sum of its wonderful parts. Chris has cleverly crafted a band synergy created by his skill at combining the right local musicians together whose chemistry has generated an incredible live feel that has to be seen to be appreciated and has also orchestrated some well produced albums containing original material.
Chris is dedicated to organising and marketing this band and it’s a pleasure to work with Chris, and everyone who is involved with this amazing blues band.
